Super Rookie Bangsinshil ‘Bangsinshil’ in front of his superpowered Zhang Ta Feng Feng Kukkien seniors
Long-hitting Bang Shin-sil (pictured), whose trademark 토토사이트is her precise iron shots, stamped her ‘super rookie’ credentials in an exciting shot-for-shot battle with Choi Hye-jin.
Bang shot a four-under-par 68 with five birdies and one bogey to share the lead with Kim Min-sun and Ji Hansol in the first round of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour’s E1 Charity Open ($900,000) at Seongmunan CC (par-72, 6602 yards) in Wonju, Gangwon Province, on Saturday. Choi Hye-jin, playing in her first domestic KLPGA Tour event since moving to the United States last year, shot a 2-under 70 with four birdies and two bogeys and is tied for 12th.
Bang, who was playing alongside national seniors Choi Hye-jin and Lee Ye-won, got off to a flying start with a long drive of 293 yards from the downhill first hole. After hitting long drives of 270-280 yards on the flats to cut her first half deficit by two strokes, Bang dropped a short par putt on the 10th (par-4) for her only bogey of the day, but added birdies on the 12th (par-3), 14th (par-4) and 16th (par-5) to move into a share of the lead. On the 16th, Choi showed off her three-wood to 283 yards before finishing with a two-putt for a two-on from 245 yards.
Choi’s iron shots were also sharp. She birdied the fourth (par-5) with her third shot for what would have been an eagle and birdied the ninth (par-5) and 12th (par-3) with her third and tee shots, respectively, one metre in front of the hole. At the 16th, he reached the green in three but made a sensational five-foot birdie putt. He was disappointed to make a bogey on the final hole when he dropped his tee shot into a bunker, but he greeted his domestic fans with an outstanding performance that will hopefully put him in contention for the title on the final day.
Bang, who is also competing on the Dream Tour (Part 2), will be looking for her first victory after the KLPGA Championship and NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, where she played in the Champions Group on the final day. Choi will be looking for her 11th career KLPGA victory since the 2020 SK Telecom-ADT Championship (November).
