“It’s my first overseas challenge…”
Oberdan (28, Brazil), the ‘good fortune’ of the Pohang Steelers, showed a pleasant smile.
Oberdan took his first steps in the K-League this season wearing a Pohang uniform. Even before the opening, the ‘question mark’ was bigger than expected. He mainly played in the Brazilian state league. Before joining토토사이트 Pohang, he played for Figuey Renci in the Brazilian third division. It’s not a glamorous career.
The lid is open. He is leading Pohang’s rise with active movement, tough defense, and sacrificial play. Pohang, led by coach Kim Ki-dong, is ranked second with an undefeated record (5 wins, 4 draws) in the opening 9 games of the ‘Hana 1 Q K League 1 2023’. Coach Kim said, “Oberdan is an indispensable player for the team. If you look here for a moment, he goes to the other side. He seems to be a player who can scratch an itch well on the team. I want to say thank you.”
Oberdan said, “This is my first overseas challenge. I didn’t think I would form a good relationship like this. I will try to help the team grow further. I will help more. The coach tells me about the position on the field and tactics. In Brazil, There is a difference from what I did. I will listen to what the director said, try a lot, and try to grow.”
Helping him adapt are his Brazilian colleagues. He maintains close friendships with Brazilian players who play in the K-League, including “teammate” Zeca, Pesin and Lamas (above, Busan I-Park).
Oberdan said, “I think I should enjoy the game against the Brazilian players a little more when I have time after the children are all asleep. My wife and two sons came to Korea together. I was worried about the children’s adaptation, but both food and life are adapting without problems. .My wife is also living a normal life in Korea. My oldest son is 7 years old and my youngest son is 2 years old. It’s really hard. Both childcare and soccer are hard. But when I go home and see the kids, I forget my thoughts, and it’s hard, but it’s good hard.”
Oberdan, who is pleasant on and off the field, is greatly loved by Pohang fans. He is nicknamed ‘Youngilman Oh’ among Pohang fans. Oberdan said, “(If people in Pohang must eat) Gwamegi, of course, I will try it once,” his eyes twinkling.
