‘I don’t need to run’ Pittsburgh’s Bae Ji-hwan raises batting average to .271 with multi-hit game
Even if he doesn’t play, he’s worth his weight in gold먹튀검증. Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bae Ji-hwan (24) recorded his ninth multi-hit game of the season, raising his batting average to the .270s.
Bae went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a walk in the eighth spot in the batting order against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, USA. It was Bae’s ninth multi-hit game of the season, raising his season average from .264 to .271. He did not attempt to steal a base on the day, keeping his season total at 14.
In the game against Texas on April 24, Bae received a lot of criticism from the local media in the United States after he was caught stealing and being thrown out at the plate.
In his first start since, Bae struck out swinging and grounded out to the pitcher in his first two at-bats. He was then hit by a fastball from Seattle starter George Kirby.
After Kirby went down, Bae’s bat spun wildly. Leading off the sixth inning with Pittsburgh leading 7-4, Bae led off with a 150-mph sinker from left-hander Taylor Saucedo to left field. The hit extended Bae’s hitting streak to six games, dating back to April 18 against Detroit. After moving to second on Austin Hedges’ sacrifice bunt, Bae moved to third on Andrew McCutchen’s grounder to center and came home on Brian Reynolds’ single to left to extend his season total to 22.
With Pittsburgh leading 10-6 in the bottom of the seventh, Bae stepped to the plate for his first long ball in three games. He took a changeup from right-hander Juan Denn and smashed a two-run double to right field. The pitch was clocked at a whopping 100.4 miles per hour (about 161.5 kilometers per hour). He was stranded at second base.
Mitch Keller, who has emerged as Pittsburgh’s ace this season, bucked the trend of late, allowing six runs on seven hits, including two homers, and two walks in six innings. The outing pushed Keller’s ERA over the triple digits at 3.01. Still, Keller improved to 6-1 on the season as the Pittsburgh offense pounded out 15 hits, including seven home runs.
Brian Reynolds led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Zack Swanski, who has struggled of late after an early-season breakout, went 3-for-3 with a multi-homer game. “Pittsburgh’s seven home runs in one game is just the fourth time in franchise history that the Pirates have hit seven home runs in a game, joining June 7, 1894, August 17, 1947 and August 21, 2003,” MLB.com’s Records Specialist Sarah Lance wrote.
