Assist For You (Assist For Youth) project, which is underway for the development of youth basketball in Korea from 2022. The Gangnam PHE basketball class youth team, which is doing this project together, has won its first victory since its establishment.
The Gangnam PHE Basketball Class, which organized the women’s national team for the first time this year, participated in the 2023 Korea Culture and Sports Federation’s National Youth and Girls Basketball Championship held in early April. The Gangnam PHE Girls’ Team, which participated in the competition for the first time after its establishment, entered the competition with the goal of real-life experience rather than victory or defeat.
At the end of last year, the first women’s team was established, and Gangnam PHE Basketball Class Director Kang Woo-hyeong, who is accelerating the growth of dream young girls, put a lot of effort into the young and girl team and helped the players grow.
Unlike the male student team, which attracts many students in one grade, the base is not wide, so Director Kang Woo-hyung, who made a team of different grades, made a team of 10 people, including 1 5th grader, 7 6th graders, and 2 1st graders in middle school. packed up Director Kang, who is serious about the Yu-Girl team, recruited Kim Doo-Na-Rang from Bucheon Hana 1Q as a coach to train the team.
The Gangnam PHE girl team’s first challenge, which focused on experience rather than immediate results due to their short command, produced more than expected results of one win.
Gangnam PHE’s first win was against Jamsil Samsung.
The confrontation between the two teams, who were close to beginners, was an unexpected match. Although there were not many points, the confrontation between the players of the two teams who were sincere towards the ball made my hands sweat.
The match between the two teams, which had a one-point difference from the beginning, was a 12-11, one-point victory for Gangnam PHE, who succeeded in scoring the final goal by taking advantage of the opponent’s mistake in the fourth quarter.
Kang Woo-hyeong, president of Gangnam PHE, who succeeded in his first victory after the unexpected foundation, said, “Thanks to the children’s unexpectedly good run, we won a valuable victory. Both the players and the coaches were unexpectedly successful, so the joy was doubled.”
Director Kang, who operated the team with an emphasis on helping children feel interested in basketball and feeling comfortable playing basketball rather than competition, said, “Youth who have a wide base enough to have to wait to join the team and young girls who have difficulty forming a one-year national team It still needs effort. The reason why our basketball class also created a youth and girl team this year was because we decided that a basketball class like ours could expand its base even a little by running a youth and girl team.” said he hoped
“I participated in the tournament expecting all losses, but I think my children will like basketball a little more because I won 1 win. I will do my best. I and my instructors will work hard and do my best with the children so that we can win one more time within this year.” Assist For Youth is a project that assists to spread youth basketball by joining forces with youth basketball classes across the country from 2022.
